2 questions about cognitive problems:
1) Do cognitive problems (e.g. word finding problems) resulting from a neurological condition (e.g. MS) count as physical or mental health problems?
2) I think I read somewhere about "cognitive Champions" in ATOS centres - is this correct and , if so, who are they are what difference do they make to the application process?

Having had MS since 1986, for me it causes both physical and mental problems.
However see this link on the DWP website A-Z of Medical Conditions
This medical guidance for Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance Decision Makers has been developed by the Departments Health and Benefits Division with help from experts involved in patient care. It contains background information on the more common medical conditions in DLA/AA claims, their treatment, the likely disabling effects together with the likely impact on ability to self care and get around.
The guide is also used by DLA/AA appeal tribunals in helping them to decide eligibility
and what award would be appropriate. However, please note it's only a guide and not an authoritative statement of law , but well worth reading.
