ESA Support Group ,Savings, Other Incomes. was created by keith
It seems that I am finally being moved from the "Work related group" into the "support group".
I have been on contribution based ESA for around two and a half years,I know that other small incomes and any savings are ignored on contribution based ESA.
I have been told by a friend however, that when I move over to the "Support group" I will be fully means tested .
This I have been told will take into account my wifes income and any savings we have,we only have a very small amount of savings.
Can any one help ?.
Thanks
Keith

Hi K,
As you are new to the forum, you may wish to read this :
Welcome to Benefits and Work
There is much useful information from the links in our FAQ's here : FAQ’s
Regarding ESA and the Support Group.
You can access all our ESA Guides, here : ESA Guides
With regards to the question as The Support Group, and The WRAG are both awards of ESA, and you are now in receipt of Contributary ESA, your circumstances should not change.
However, if you read the relevant links in our FAQ's as provided above, you will see that anyone in receipt of Contributary WRAG of ESA, will only receive this for 365 days after April 2012.
Time spent in the Support Group does not count against this 365 day entitlement.

Hi,
First i heard of this, as my husband went fron IB to WRAG. We appealed, he was put into the SG.He has not been asked to provide any evidence of savings/other income, as like you he was on contribution based IB/WRAG, which i believe are not means tested.
I can only assume your friend is refering to people who were on income related benefits, such as income support/ income related ESA and were put into the support group.
However, if anyone out there knows any different please advise.
Thanks.
Radhika.
