Hi, irecently attended my medical for ESA, after all the stress I went through with the computers going down and having to re attend my medical, very stressful experience especially over the Christmas period then having to attend again due to a system error. I am still waiting for the results from the medical and whilst waiting I have received my medical forms for my DLA renewal as this runs out in april :S Having to deal with both forms/medicals etc at the same time is nearly sending me over the edge, especially as my dad is in hospital and critically ill, deteriorating by the day and now having to fill in my DLA form while waiting to hear results of medial for IB. should I wait to hear result from IB medical before I return the DLA form, will it make any difference if I pass ESA medical and include that in DLA med form eg will this help my DLA application if I have had medical for ESA/IB and passed it? would I have to attend another medical for DLA if ive passed the ESA medical as that seems unfair and cruel.

Answering your questions out of order.

I am afraid the medicals for ESA and DLA are quite different and one cannot be used as a substitute for the other, so you should expect to have one for your DLA claim.

With regard to when you should return your renewal form, see the following FAQ.

When should I send my renewal form back?

There may be some advantage in being able to quote the result of your ESA claim, but the reality is that there are only limited areas of overlap, primarily mobility and continence, so if these are not conditions that affect you, there may be little value in waiting.

Hi D,

Gordon is offline at the moment.

I think he means that he didn't answer your questions in the order that you wrote them in your original post. :)

I'm sure he will correct me if I'm mistaken. :)

Thanks, on Gordon's behalf, for your kind comments, and for your recommendations regarding B&W.

Hi D,

I can't really say how long your DLA Award may be, but if you are in receipt of DLA when PIP comes in, please see information on this thread:

There is a Guide on DLA Renewals accessible from here :
