Letter Of Support from former G.P. ? was created by emma72
As my new G.P. wont write a letter of support, for my Appeal, could i still get one from my old G.P. ? he wrote a letter with no problems, it was ready the next day.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You can ask but you should not be surprised if they refuse as they are no longer providing you with treatment, even if they do they may stipulate on the letter that they are no longer your doctor. As my new G.P. wont write a letter of support, for my Appeal, could i still get one from my old G.P. ? he wrote a letter with no problems, it was ready the next day.

make an appointment, ask them why they won;t
Is it a matter of a fee ? do they understand the criteria ? Do they know enough about your difficulties, not just your diagnosis and treatment ?
Running to the old GP will at best produce a letter that the HCPs will know isnt from your present doctor, and for that reason they will be less inclined to give it weight.
Try and sort it with your existing GP , or see another member of the practice, and if no one will support you, then you have to ask yourself (a) have you got a decent case or (b) should I be with a practice whose lack of support might have a major impact on your income

My G.P. said, the DWP should write to them if they want any medical details.
And that i understand it's a basic form, that doesnt give enough evidence to support my appeal. I've looked at the form, and it wouldnt be enough to support my appeal

It is worth remembering that GPs have no obligation to provide letters of support or medical reports for a claimant, there may be many reasons why a GP might choose not to do so.
I don't think members should automatically assume that their GPs refusal means that they do not support their claim, and I would consider their overall performance before deciding to find a new doctor.
