Waiting on results of medical for ESA

I had medical 3 weeks ago awaiting results, for ESA. Problem is I am on DLA & have a car on motability scheme which is due for renewal. You are advised to order car 3 months before contract on other car runs out. I have been holding off ordering car incase I fail medical & this could effect my DLA. Can anyone advise me on this issue?

Hi P,

DLA and ESA, are two totally seperate benefits/allowances, although there are a few crossovers with the qualifying criteria.

A DWP Decision Maker, can use evidence in an ESA Medical Report, to help him come to decision on a DLA award, and vice versa.

However, it does not necessarily follow that this will be the case in your situation.

It generally happens when information in an ESA Medical Report, is contradictory to the claimant's award of DLA, and vice versa.

After 3 months of waiting I received results of my medical - I have been put in the WRAG Income Related. Question - Does the 365 days apply to Income Related ESA. I am in N Ireland if that helps anyone with the time between medical and results.

In answer to your question, no there is no 365 day limit for receipt of Income Related ESA in the WRAG.
