Incapacity Benefit/ESA was created by mandy76
It's now less then a month until my Incapacity award expires, which I think ends 28 February but I don't appear to have an end date on any correspondence because incapacity, at some stage, seemed to become linked to my DLA HRC which was to expire at the end of February. I renewed DLA before Christmas and in January I heard it has been awarded at the same rate for a further 5 years. My question is this, should I be worried that I have not heard anything about renewing IB/ESA or even recieved a phone call or letter regarding transfer to ESA? Should I contact them and risk starting the ESA ball rolling? Or should I keep quiet and see what happens at the end of February? Is anyone else in a similar situation? I do have the ESA50 form completed ready to go. Thank you.

Hi,

Unlike DLA, IB doesn't have an end date. It continues in payment until you are found to be no longer eligible. Until you are reassessed you will continue to be paid, unless there is a relevant change in your circumstances.

Thank you Steve.

I must admit I thought there was an end date to my IB as before I got HRC DLA, IB appeared to have a review date of 2009 but no review happened when I informed them I had been awarded HRC DLA and they said IB would continue whilst I had that award of HRC until Feb 2012. This is probably why I was under the impression it would be reviewed in February at the end of my DLA award. DLA has now been awarded at same rate for a further 5 years thanks to the guides provided on this site.
Thank you.
