Hi
I have a friend who is very nervous at waiting to hear about her decision for e.s.a she is getting income support for being ill and d.l.a, she sent off her form end of november 2011 and she put everything down on her form, the d.w.p then wrote to her doctor asking for q nedacl report,he sent a medical report back in december 2011 and she has not heard anything, she has not been asked to attend any medical and is getting very worried at what the delay or problem of what she thinks ist bad news, (i keep saying no news is bad news) sheis worried she has failed, can you please give some advice to how long you should wait to hear, as this is around 11 weeks she is just to nervous to call them for an up-date in case they say bad news as i know she would not cope to well
thank you pat

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There really is no standard length for these activties to take, also we are aware that most Benefit Delivery Centres are currently overloaded which is causing further delays.
There really is only two things a claimant can do, sit and wait or contact your local DWP office for an update

hi gareth
I would have thought that after 11 weeks they would have done something like a medical, they are quick enough to make a decision when you have had a medical when they wont to kick you off e.s.a

If your friend fails the transfer, they should receive written notice and typically two weeks further payment of IS after which benefit payments will cease.
