What contacts do people use on the form for DLA and ESA, and are some types of contact better than others?

Not sure what you mean by contacts ? Do you mean doctors, consultant's, relatives, carers, friends and the like who the DWP may contact in connection with ESA/DLA claims.

If so, it's best to use the person who knows the most about your illness/disability for ESA. For DLA, it's best to use the person who knows the most about your care and/or mobility needs.

This will depend on different claimants, there is no 'standard' answer.

well, which do they contact on the phone and which do they write to?

if a consultant send them a letter with a telephone number. And as a contact I don't include their telephone number just their address and email address, then would they not phone?

with writing there's more chance the consultant would speak to me more regarding what they write.

I want to make things more certain.

Also I know with DLA, if there was a phone call, then asking them for evidence would be the only way to find out what was said can take weeks, whereas if it was written then I could get a copy from the consultant or they'd send me a copy straight away.

As I said, there is no standard answer, who the DWP chose to contact varies from claim to claim, as does the method of contact, i.e. by 'phone, letter or often by e-mail or fax.
