OK thanks for that, as I understand the link it says you are limited to 12 months in WRAG group if you are on contributions based ESA but may be able to move to income based ESA. At first I thought it meant you would be expected to be fit for work after 12 months in that group which is impossible to predict or guarantee.

I too have been told my ESA stops on the 29th April. My Husband is 83, I was ill health retired 2 years ago, not due my State Pension until November this year. Too many savings to move to Income related, I guess I am one of the lucky ones, as I can live for 6 months on my savings. Why should we be penalised after paying NI contributions for nearly all our working lives.
What strikes me is that although the money stops they are still putting a stamp on, and we can still be called to interviews to return to work. I have never been called for follow up meetings anyway, so why am I not in the Support Group, its crazy.

Camlo
It is not clear how the DWP will manage this, but I think you need to opt into receiving NI Credits when your ESA(CB) payments cease.
My understanding is that claimants receiving only NI Credits will not be called to WFIs or put forward to the Work Programme, although they may need to be regularly re-assessed in order to continue receiving NI Credits.
