support group help please !!! was created by pusscatsmum
Hiya, Its long, forgive me but you will understand!!!!
Received some brown envelopes on Saturday morning!!!
As some are aware I am currently in the midst of putting paperwork together for my appeal from WRAG to Support & keeping jobcentre+ informed each step of the way.
Envelope 1, Computer generated info on Information re ESA changes in rates payable.
Page 1 = info saying it is going up £5 a week.
Page 2 = info re help you can get, tax benefit etc, pretty dull
Page 3 = breakdown on how ESA allowance is made up.
Here it says, now placed in Support Group & what money this now equates to???
Envelope 2, 1 sheet, important info re ESA support Group,
Records show as a result of Work Capability Work assessment you have been
allocated to the Support Group.
Then goes on about no need for WFI’s
Then goes on about if in future, following another Work Capability Assessment you are moved out of Support Group you will need to go to WFI’s.
My first thought was whoopee now in Support Group. Obviously DM must have looked at original paperwork again that was sent in, as follows the pathway listed by a DWP.
My carer rang Jobcentre+this morning as no other paperwork arrived by post, to be informed, yes now in Support Group, paperwork to follow, however it is only for 3 months starting from March 21st 2012.
So what does this really mean??.
Do we continue our appeal and send in all the paperwork next week? Or, do we await the new paperwork re the 3 months in Support Group? & then await any info to start the whole thing all over again?.
What happens when you finish the time allotted span of your support group? Do they then send you stuff to do again, i.e. another ESA50 form to fill out or what?
We are very confused???
HELP PLEASE ??

Hi PCM
If you've been placed into the SG on reconsideration you should receive a decision letter confirming that. It would then not be possible to appeal as the length of time you are placed in the SG is guidance only and not an appealable decision.
You may be reassessed on your review date but it is quite possible with their current workload, that it could be later.
Good luck
Derek

If you have indeed been placed into the Support Group, then your only reason for appeal would be the length of time that the award had been made for.
Given the time for appeals to be heard, any appeal on this basis would be something of Pyhrric victory as you would likely be re-assessed before your tribunal was heard.
Gordon
Modedit: Derek is of course correct, that the prognosis is advisory and does not form part of the Decision, as a result, for ESA, this period is not appealable.
Obviously I'm not quite awake yet

We were doing an appeal as I was placed in the WRAG Group and wanted to try and get into the Support Group.I presume I bin all that paperwork.?
(Given 18 months in Wrag 21.11.11 to 21.5.13)
Now 3 months in Support Group.
I suppose I wait til I get the written descision how I got put in Support Group they will send me and then wait til I hear from them again sometime after 3 months, but what will they do then. Do they send paperwork for me to fill in or just do a reasesment and what is this?

Hi pcm, I would expect the process to start all over again quite soon in view of the 3/12 timescale. Once you have the paperwork, you will be able to use some of that next time round. The appeal will automatically be abandoned now that the reconsideration has gone in your favour.
