IB to ESA was created by anniemae
I completed an esa50 and returned it last sept along with letters of support from my consultant and gp i have not received any correspondence from atos or the dwp other than to say i am entitled to a rise in my IB from April which i believe is a standard letter. Is this normal practise as the situation is making me ill, I have not rung them as the whole process is exacibating my illness.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I waited nearly 5 months to hear about my WCA appointment.

Many claimants, especially those being transferred to ESA, are experiencing significant delays in their claims, because of overloading of the system.
That said, seven months is well beyond what we would expect a claimant to have to wait.
Unfortunately, you really only have three choices; sit and wait, phone the DWP for an update, write to the DWP for an update.
You might also want to think about making a formal complaint, see
Complaining to the DWP
Good luck

I'd be reclined to sit and wait. As long as you continue to receive IB payment.

Many thanks for all your replies and advice i am sorry for my ignorance but what is WCA? I did think to sit and wait as i am getting my IB but i am unable to sleep due to worrying about it. I will wait a few weeks and if i havent heard from them i will write and ask for an update. Your right Gordon 7 months is a rediculous length of time to keep people waiting all the stress and anxiety is a nightmare. I am worried to make a formal complaint incase of repercussions and im sure they are well aware of this.

I'm sorry, anniemae, my fault for using the jargon!
The WCA is the Work Capacity Assessment - the 'medical' for ESA.
