Couple of questions re ESA Medical & WRAG group was created by Popkins
Hi
A couple of questions, firstly regarding myself - I attended an ESA ATOS medical 4 weeks ago as I was previously on Incapacity Benefit and being transferred over to ESA and I still haven't heard anything - how long generally does it take to get a decision? I'm thinking of calling tomorrow to see if I can try and get an update?
Also, my friend who has been receiving ESA since last May was recently put in the WRAG group and requested to attend Work focussed interviews (same condition as me - Fibromyalgia and unable to work) she didn't appeal I'm not sure why other than she couldnt face the stress! but she has now received a letter yesterday saying that as she has been put into WRAG and has been on the contributions based benefit, which apparently you are only permitted to receive WRAG benefit for 365 days which according to them she now has, they are going to stop her benefit as of 23rd May and she'll get nothing!! What should she do? is there anything she can do? also in the next post this morning she had a letter giving her a date to attend a work focussed interview saying she must attend, but if they're not giving her any benefit anymore why should she, whats the point especially as its really difficult for her!
I'm stressing in case this happens to me as I'm in a similar situation (my benefit is contributions based and my husband works).
Any advice gratefully received

I have noticed that your forum name may be your real name, if you want to change this have a look at the following FAQ.
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
With regard to your claim. Decision times have been slowly extending over the last six months, you will do no harm to your claim to give your local DWP office a call for an update.
With regard your friends ESA, see the following FAQs
12 Month Limit for ESA(CB)
12 Month Limit for ESA(CB) – Implementation
They can request a Supersession on their current claim if they believe they now meet the criteria for the Support Group. See
Qualifying for the Support Group
If they do not meet the requirements for ESA(IR).
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
Then their only other option is to make a new claim for ESA(CB), they will need to wait at least 12 weeks and of course meet the qualifying Conditions for ESA(CB).
