wheelchair assesment and DLA was created by pusscatsmum
Hi,
Not sure if anyone can provide ideas/help but here is my quandary.
I have an apollo LHD wheelchair provided by NHS after wheelchair assessement in 2008 when in bungalow on farm, a tied property, we moved in 2009 to my house, bought in 2003,house assesed by OT in 2009 & told house not suitable, but we moved in cos no where else to live.Offered housing assoc disabled flat but turned it down, horrid location.Put the wheelchair in shed cos 2 big 4 house.Have found a suitable wheelchair propelled by carer 4 indoor/outside use & asked 4 voucher/change of chair cos unable to use existing one.The wheelchair assesment people gone mad cos still have chair, not using it & using a stroller instead in house.House 2 small 2 manouvre wheelchair in. They are not going to provide either vouchers or chair, want 2 take unused chair back & made me feel it is a problem now in obtainig HRDLA & this can be removed as no longer using useless wheelchair.
Its not my fault I cannot use chair as it is 2 big 4 house, hence finding a smaller & more user friendly one myself. Cost is the same.Very worried they could contact DWP & get DLA stopped. Help.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You do not have to use a wheelchair in order to receive HRM DLA.

You are welcome.
Don't forget that it is entirely possible that the people who assess for wheelchairs are not totally au fait with the benefits system.
