Help please! Medical next week!! was created by santol
Hi everyone,

I am going for my medical examination next week. Despite my mentioning in my ESA50 questionnaire that I suffer from extreme urgency particularly in the mornings and I have significant leakage/ dribbling unless I go to the toilet within a few seconds, I have been given an appointment before 10 AM. Could this be deliberate or is just a coincidence?

The thing is, when I need to go out the next day, usually to see my doctor or for any hospital appointments I normally control my intake of fluids especially tea/ coffee from the night before itself and the next day in the morning I have nothing apart from a few sips of water until I come back in order to avoid any embarrassing accidents outside. This is what I propose to do on the day of my medical also. Will the person examining give any credence if I tell him/ her that I have taken very little fluids since last night?

Can anyone help or give advice in the matter please?

Many thanks and Kind regards,
santol

Appointments are scheduled by computer so it is likely the time you have been given was just the first available slot.

You can request an appointment in the afternoon, but you can only re-arrange the medical once, so be careful in doing this.

The ATOS "doctor" should take note of any measures you have taken to allow you to go out, but you may need to be forceful in explaining what you have done, as they work of a script on the computer.

Good luck

Sorry to hear of your probs, pls take spare undies etc with you and wear a pad in case of accidents. Carry on as normal and if an accident occurs at least they can see the problem for itself. This happens to me, so I always take extra with me out.
This will all add to the credence of your particular predicament.

Hi,

Just wanted to say 'good luck'. I had mine the end of March and although it appeared to go quite straight forwards and the physio carrying it out seemed very pleasent I am not taking anything for granted.

Just remember to explain what you can,t do as opposed to what you can do and stress how much your condition affects your daily life.

Like i said, mine was over a fortnight ago and it,s quite nerve racking waiting for the postman everyday but hey!!

Good luck.x

Hi,
Thank you very much Gordon, pussycatmum and smithy for your valuable advice and support. I am not worried as much as before. I shall update next week after my medical. Hopefully everything goes smoothly without a hitch, fingers crossed!

Many thanks once again,
