Theoretically it should not, however it does seem to.
I have noticed this question when on the Welfare Rights website
Can you provide a link, as there are quite a few websites mainly local authorities who have a welfare rights section.
Many thanks.

www.rightsnet.org.uk forum
I use it frequently, there is a lot of really good information on legal aspects. I do not have access to some of the things they show links for tho.
The site is aimed at welfare officers/ solicitors/ cab representatives etc and not a general public site.

My personal view is that the DWP is in meltdown. Staff are poorly trained and putting their own interpretation on the relevant guidance and rules.

The DWP have given me conflicting information in the past few months. My personal adviser at JCP told me that there is absolutely no link between ESA and DLA. Yet, I was recently told by a someone more senior that DLA HRC results in automatic entry to the Support Group for ESA.

Hi,
An award of DLA HRC does not result in automatic entry to the Support Group (or even the WRAG) of ESA, so that myth can be put straight to bed.
Although DLA and ESA are separate benefits with differing qualification, there is a degree of potential overlap in certain parts and as such the DWP may use such as a DLA medical outcome to assist in determining a claimants entitlement to ESA and vice versa. However in general separate medicals are normally used to determine entitlement.
I hope that explains it.
Pete
