My my brother-in-law is about to be transfer from contribution based ESA to Income related, he has an award for industrial injuries of around £120 a week for being 40+% disabled, this will be deducted from his ESA this will amount to 50% drop in income. fortunately my Wife and I are in a position to help him out, if I was to pay a lump sum off his mortgage would it be classed as income?, also if I bought his weeks food would he have to declare it?
Kind regards
Kind regards

Hiya,
He must have been given more than a 40% Industrial Injury Benefit to receive that amount, unless it contains back pay too.
See DWP website for info on Ind Inj etc
