I received a letter a few days ago to state my ESA is now being stopped - had all my contributions for the year. As you know it took me a year to get to court from last April and went last month - had all the benefits etc backdated and because it is 365 days - my money stops on the 30th or they transfer me onto IR. Trouble is my carer who i live with works 14 hour shifts, i live in his home and we are not in partnership - so how will this affect me. As i borrowed alot of money last year from him as i have a 13 year old daughter, i suffer with ME and i am in the WRAG group. Any ideas? i pay him when i can and how much when i am able to of which i have proof from my bank statements.

You need to get face to face advice from your local CAB and/or Welfare Rights office.

It is possible that the DWP will accept you and your carer are not partners, however, it is also possible that they will not, which is why you need to seek advice.

Do you have a rent book or at the very least a formal arrangement for the room(s) you occupy in their house? Is the house segmented in any way, for example, do you have your own living area? Without these it may be difficult to prove to the DWP that you are not partners.

Where to get advice?

Good luck
