Esa appeal Physical descriptors help pls was created by Lizz
Hi,
I am currently doing an appeal to move from the wrag to the support part of ESA I was wondering if anyone knows what the DWP in the physical descriptor, can't repeatedly mobilise 50 metres within a reasonable time limit. What is a reasonable time limit?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
There isn't a time limit as such for example 5 mins, 10 mins etc.
It is what is 'reasonable' (trying to think of an alternative way of describing this) given the circumstances.
Thus to give a very exaggerated example, it would be reasonable to expect a person with two healthy working legs to mobilise the 50 meters somewhat quicker than say someone without working legs and arms who could not propel a normal wheelchair.

Thanks, I was reading it as you mobilise 50 metres and then can't do it again due to pain for a few hours minutes etc.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Remember the test os for mobilising and not walking, so you need to account for you potential use of a wheelchair as well.

The time taken between periods of mobilising is a factor as well, but there is no definition of what reasonable is, however, requiring hours to recover is more likely to be sucessful than requiring minutes. Thanks, I was reading it as you mobilise 50 metres and then can't do it again due to pain for a few hours minutes etc.
