Only get NI credits from IB - ESA premature? was created by Rigmarole
Hi - I've only been getting NI credits because of my incapacity benefits for the past few years because an occupational ill-health pension takes me over the income threshold for IB payments.
I've read in your literature on ESA that DWP wasn't intending to migrate people like me onto ESA until 2014 but I was sent the form, filled it in (before I read your stuff!) and have been assigned to the ESA WRAG.
I'm appealing the decision but am wondering whether it's even necessary if my migration was done in error.
Thoughts?

The DWP have never formally issued a breakdown of what order claimants would be transferred to ESA, what we have put together was from comments made by the DWP in a number of briefing documents, regarding the transfer.
It may well be that the majority of IB, SDA and IS claimants are being transferred in this order but a significant minority have/are/will not, so your transfer will not have been a mistake.
As I assume you are only receiving NI credits on ESA, it would be worth you getting a pension forecast, see the following. If you have already accumulated a full State Pension, then there is no additional value to continuing to claim ESA,. although I would recommend you get face to face advise before making any decision.

I tried this by filling in the form online answering all the questions asked, and as I only had one employer for 30 years thought it would be relatively simple for them to give me a "quote" Waited six weeks to be told by e-mail that they couldn't confirm who I was!! Unfortunately the DWP didn't have that problem and my ESA form has been returned and I'm in the horrible waiting phase.
Good luck to everyone Marian
