Hello, I do hope I am posting this in the correct place. I was hoping for some generic info which would be of benefit to myself and others. I am of the understanding that the care needs of a claimants child can not be taken into account for a DLA claim. However, if this child has regular fluctuating increased care needs (in our case panic attacks, depression, fixed ideas and violent outbursts), this causes the claimant to have greater care needs, relapses and a greater need for support and encouragement to cope with daily living. They do not need someone else to look after the child but more support for themselves, as a result of their health conditions, to provide this care. Should a DM take these care needs into account when assessing a claim?
