As you say, it cannot be badnews as your wife has not had a face-to-face assessment. You are supposed to get the decision in writing - but a Decision Maker phoned me recently to tell me the result of my reconsideration.

Well they never rang back, but we did receive a brown envelope this morning. Awarded both contribution-based and income related ESA, SUPPORT GROUP, with no medical.

I cannot thanks this site and all who sail on her enough, the guides were invaluable and got us through this stressful time without the need for the dreaded ATOS medical. Many many thanks.

the breakdown is as follows

Living expences for you and your partner £111.45
Extra money because of the disability income guarantee £21.30
Extra money because you are in support group £34.05
Which give total income-related amount £166.80.

Is this a correct breakdown?
What is this disability income guarantee?
What form is it I need to ask for to find out how they made their decission and the length of the award?
We appear to be getting £12.05 a week more now than on IB/IS. is that right.

As we get both contribute and income based what will happen after 365 days? does it just change to all income based at the same rate as before?

Once again many thanks to everyboby on the site, we are over the moon with the outcome. We can start living again now, without the threat of a ATOS medical hanging in the balance. :cheer:

Hi awh,

As your wife did not have a medical, you need to ask for the ESA85a. There is no limit to time spent in the Support Group so nothing will change after 365 days.

Thanks for the info mrs H.

Can I ask you something else please, the letter say the new esa will start 26th oct which is the day after our IB/IS payment., will our payday remain thurs?

Also do you still get xmas bonus, free prescriptions, dental and optician on esa?

What is disability income guarantee? Why do you get this.

The letter say the amount we get is from 26/10/12 to 29/11/12, what happens after that? The letter is a bit confusing, don't rearly want to ring them as I forget half of what I want to say before the answer the phone.

1) The payment day will depend on your wife's NI number

Benefit payment dates

2) Access to free prescriptions etc will continue as your wife gets an income-related top-up to her ESA.

3) I hope that one of the other mods will comment on the disability income guarantee as it is not something with which I am conversant

4) This November date comes up frequently. It is a date soley for DWP systems and has nothing to do with how long benefit will be paid for. The ESA85a will give you an idea when to expect to be reassessed (although this is only a guideine, it is not written in stone).
