ATOS Face to Face Assessment

Well,

6th November is the day my interrogation starts.

I was thinking of printing a copy of my ESA50 and taking it with me and presenting it before the HCP to have a read just in case they have not done so.

Would it also be acceptable to ask the HCP their name and any qualifications that they may have?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

The HCP should introduce themselves and I believe state their professional qualification.

I'd be careful about asking for their qualifications. It won't make any difference to you at the time and, as Gordon says, you can always check them online afterwards.

Some people are offended if you ask for their qualifications since they take it as implying that you think they aren't qualified. If you think you have a condition which means you should be assessed by a doctor, then I'd contact Atos in advance to ask if you have been listed to see a doctor and request one if they say you haven't.

Making a note of their name seems entirely reasonable to me, especially if you do it in a business-like manner. This suggests that you are doing something routine and not making a note in case you want to get at them (e.g. with a complaint) later. Be non-threatening!

Only HCP's I've seen have always introduced themselves as Dr so and so which naturally gives their qualification away. Others I've known attend medicals have had HCP'S give their medical qualifications when introducing themselves.

Will they contact you by telephone or will they send a letter.

If they do contact you by phone is it a witheld number?

If they cannot get in touch via the phone will they send you a letter

It's difficult for us to say, despite 'popular belief', moderators don't have a crystal ball to enable us to look into the future

In the past, only doctors of medicine were allowed to carry out assessments for ESA & DLA/AA.

Now, Atos, who have the contract to carry out medical assessments, can use doctors, nurses,
midwives, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to carry out assessments.

Sometimes, it's best for the claimant not to have a doctor, but one of the above.

However, I fail to see how a midwife who is professionally qualified to deal with child birth and aftercare can be qualified to assess medical conditions/long term disability of claimants totally unrelated to child birth. !!!!!!!!!!!
