Should I take the Atos phone call? was created by mmpkelly1
Hello everyone, the day I have been dreading for 18 months arrived yesterday, I got my IB/ESA transfer letter & I'm now in full blown panic mode :( I know the next stage is a phone call & I was wondering do I have to answer it or is it beneficial to give details at this stage? I'm sorry if this seems really stupid but any advice is much appreciated. :)

Making the best of a bad lot!

Hi Nini,

You do not have to answer any calls from ATOS or The DWP. Any unanswered call should be followed by a letter relating to the subject matter of the missed phonecall.

However, it may be to your advantage to have phone contact when it comes to the DWP decision making stage, as the DWP DM "MAY" ring you to see whether you can add any extra evidence before coming to a decision.

I should have added that the phone call that you mention after receiving the "Migration Letter" is purely a courtesy call, and is not really of any relevance. If you have not received your ESA50 Questionnaire in the next fortnight, you should contact the DWP to ensure that it has not gone missing in the post.

The DWP Decision making stage should not occur until after you have returned your ESA50, ATOS have either assessed you as a paper excersise or at a face to face assessment, made their recommendations in the form of a medical report, and returned your file to the DWP DM who will make the decision.

Have you thought of using the PDF ESA50, you could even start filling it in now, whilst refering to our ESA Claims Guides.

It can be downloaded and saved to your P.C. from the link on this FAQ :
