IB to ESA
- bro58
The Conversion Notice was dated 24th September, so obviously I received it a bit after this. Is the ESA50 sent about two weeks after 24th Sept,or does it allow for the time taken to deliver the conversion notice.
Hi st,
"10 to 14 days after receipt of the "Conversion Notice "
I am afraid it is not an "exact science" with regards to the above, just a guideline.
Bear in mind that the conversion notice is sent to you by the DWP. The DWP then have to refer you to ATOS, it is then ATOS who will post out the ESA50 to you.

Hi st,
In the first instance, you should contact ATOS, they should then confirm that they have a "Live referral" from the DWP, regarding your ESA migration.
It may be advisable to do this in writing by e-mail so that you have a paper trail, ATOS contact : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
You could also phone them on : 0113 230 9175.
If there are any problems at the ATOS end, you should then contact the DWP at the address on your conversion notice.

You can request this information, although the DWP may have destroyed the information by now.Whilst on the subject of the transfer, is it worth requesting the doctors notes from the last IB assessment in 2009. Would it be of value to see what she had written? Can I just request a copy from the DWP?
You need to be aware that there are significant differences between the IB descriptors and the current ESA one, and there will be limited benefit in looking at information that
- does not directly refer to the current descriptors, and
- is at least three years old.

I emailed ATOS today, as I haven't received the ESA50 as yet. This was the reply I got:
Thank you for your email. Atos Healthcare has not yet received a referral from the DWP so I am unable to advise you. You may wish to contact the DWP Benefit Centre dealing with your benefit and who sent you the notification letter.
What should I do now? Should I contact the DWP or what, as it seems they haven't sent the referral yet.
