ESA Cancelled was created by citymike
Hi
A friend of mine attended his ESA WCA this morning for his move from IB.
On entering the room the nurse introduced herself, my friend then asked if the interview was being recorded, the nurse said no you have not requested it. He told her he had asked for the recording on his ESA50 form, she said she had not read his form as she had only been given it this morning, but that he should have phoned the centre to confirm agreement. He told her that noone had told him about this. After the nurse checked with reception she returned to tell him she was cancelling the interview and rearranging it for a new date. She gave him a complaints form to send in.
With regards to the nurse only getting the form this morning, are'nt they supposed to read the forms before the interview.

Yes CM,

The ATOS HCP is supposed to read all documentaion including the ESA50, before the assessment starts, see this extract :

"3.1.2 Reading the Documents

In preparation for the interview, you should read carefully the documents in the file /on MSRS. All the medical evidence should be considered, including any medical certification, Factual Reports, previous papers and other documents, including Tribunal documents. Particular attention must be paid to the current claimant questionnaire [ESA50] and all areas where the claimant indicates that there may be a problem must be fully explored. At times the claimant may also bring additional evidence to the assessment. Any evidence bought by the claimant must be read and the report should make reference to the evidence that has been considered and justification provided if there is a conflict between the opinion of the HCP and the other medical evidence."

From Page 42 of The WCA Handbook, which is the 7th link down this page :

ESA Guides

Even taking into account the above, it would have been upto someone else at ATOS to ensure that the recording equipment was available for the assessment, and they would have to obtain the examining ATOS HCP's permission to do this.
