OT and Private sector

A while ago I remember seeing someone contacted a private sector OT to help with their ESA/DLA application(s).
I have finally found a private sector OT in order to assist me in getting our local County Councils DFG Grant and to be used for ESA/DLA future needs.
The OT spent far more time in one long appointment than all the physio and OT inputs over the last 10 years added together under the NHS.
I gave the OT before the visit copies of all GP, consultant, OT, MRI SCANS etc and meds taken etc, all things that I believed the OT required before a home visit.
From the visit and paperwork provided the OT has made a comprehensive report that could be used for ESA/DLA and local govt grants.
It was factual with no hearsays etc.
I shall be sending it to my GP, OT/Physio surgery dept and to the LocalGovt Office that deals with grants etc.
It was very difficult to find an OT in the area in which I live and furthermore costs of such work is very expensive, but I believe worthwhile.
This is a thank you to the person who suggested such a direction and also to help others to perhaps consider this route.
Many thanks

As more people seem to be getting longer spells of 2 to 3 years I hope to get into that category rather than the 18 month one last November which was considered a long time then!!!

It shouldn't be necessary to have to pay for a private Occupational Therapist to be assessed for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).
All local County Councils, Metropolitan BC's and Unitary authorities employ Occupational Therapists who can assess your needs under the Chronically Sick & Disabled Persons Act 1970 and amendments.
You can often 'self refer' yourself, or ask your GP to refer you. OT's usually work with the Adult Services of Social Services, or some are employed by the NHS for things like wheelchair assessments. MORE
See Chronically Sick & Disabled Persons Act 1970
