Medical so soon???

I'm sorry shouldn't have posted a new thread but I was unsure. A week ago I enquired about what I should do if my ESA85 did not arrive on time as I was tracking it and it kept saying it was ' in the system' I was advised to call Royal Mail which I did and They said it often happens when It is a P.O. box. I called Atos and they confirmed the form had arrived. Tonight, they have called me from ATOS to make an appointment for next Monday. I am shocked as the last time I waite almost three months. Does anybody have an idea if this is good or bad? They have contacted me for a medical in just over eight days. Is this normal? I'm sorry if I have rambled on but I am distraught with the whole process and I don't seem to be thinking straight. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi ms,

I'm afraid that ATOS only have to give 7 days notice for a face to face assessment appointment.

You are allowed to rearrange once if for some valid reason you cannot attend on the date given. However, you would have to sort this out with ATOS ASAP.

As you may know, failure to attend without good cause can result in your benefit being stopped.

Having re-read your post, if you mean next Monday 5th November, and they rang you to make this appointment tonight 31st October, then they have clearly not given you 7 days notice.

They can only "ask you" if you can attend earlier than the 7 days notice, but only if you agree to it.

Thank you Bro58. I know I must attend.It's just that I wasn't expecting it so soon. I thought there was a large backlog and that people were not being contacted for the medical for at least 8-10 weeks after they sent thier form in.

Yes, I think they crossed. I only realised afterwards that it was only five days notice but I said Yes as I was taken by surprise at the call. Anyway, what will be will be. Many thanks Bro for your advice.
