Waiting for DLA decision

I sent in my daughter's DLA renewal claim form on 20th June 2012, and have not had a decision since.
I am aware that we don't have any control over how long they take to reach their decision but I don't feel, in this case, they're actually doing anything to keep within the 12-week timescale they originally gave me - they're just letting it fester.
The changes in my daughter are not complex. Rather, her disabilities have evolved (she has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and global developmental delay) and that was true last time I claimed DLA. The only reason I had to renew the claim was because she had reached age 3.
Indeed when I contacted the helpline they said there was a backlog, but I don't believe them. Unfortunately the letter I got from them doesn't include a number direct to the DLA office. What do you suggest please?
Thanks

If your case is being handled by the main DLA unit in Blackpool, then you can try the following
Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance
Phone: 08457 12 34 56
Textphone: 08457 22 44 33 (for hearing or speech difficulties)
Lines are open between 7.30am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
There is an email address, but the DWP will normally only respond to general enquiries through email.
