Chronological events of ESA. was created by cricketmadmser
Hi everyone.
Just signed up and wanting some advice.
Have slimmed through your excellent work, but would like some clarification please.
A brief background:
Diagnosed with progressive MS on 20/12/11. Symptoms have been on a downward spiral since. Situations dictated that I claimed ESA. Claimed in October, backdated from July. Sent in a form that was received with relevant documentary evidence (10.11.12). Am already awarded DLA hrm and mrc.
Few questions:
What do I receive next? Do I continue receiving ESA whilst these wheels are in motion? Is an interview imminent? What do I expect to happen?
The whole system appears fraught!
Any help much appreciated.
Very helpful site incidentally.

Hello and welcome,
As a start, it would be worth having a look at this
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Our ESA guide is very helpful
ESa guide
You will continue receiving the assessment rate ESA until a decision has been made. Not everyone has a face-to-face assessment as sometimes a decision is made from the ESA50 and accompanying paperwork. However, it is probably best to assume that you will be called in for a face-to-face assessment - note that we do not call this a medical! You are entitled to at least 7 days notice for this. Have you requested that it is recorded?
ESA Medical – What to expect
Eventually you will then get a letter telling you what decision has been made. If you are awarded ESA,you will get increased payment which will be backdated to the 14th week of your claim.
If you have any further queries, please come back and ask them on this thread

Hello.
Many thanks for the speedy reply.
You will have to pardon my ignorance Mrs H', but I am not sure as to what is recorded? Is the request for interview?
Appologies to ask, but not sure.
Thanks again, much appreciated

Many people are asking for the face to-face assessment to be recorded. There is a lot of information regarding this in this FAQ
