motablity car renewal was created by wilton
just wondering if anyone has recently applied to renew vehicle and come across problems.A friend who has had an indefinate H/R mobility award since 2000 has been infomed by his dealer that it will now take 7/10 days before he can accept his application as they have to contact DWP to see if he is still entitled. In previous years they did everything on the day but it now seems different.

Renewing a Motability car is nothing to do with the dealer, as the DWP will not pass on information about DLA claimants to a third party.
You need to contact Motability Operations on 0845 456 4566 and they will sort this out for you.
Jim
Motability customer since 1986.

A dealer has to contact Motability so they can confirm with the DWP that a claim is valid and a "customer" is entitled to a car. It's standard practices and as the dealer said it takes 7-10 working days to confirm entitlement.
I suspect your dealer merely got a bit mixed up with Motability and the DWP.

As a qualified Motabilty Specialists in the Motor trade As previously stated. This is standard practice today. The systems in place are far quicker and accurate for customers and the garage supplying your new vehicle.
When the dealer sends in your new application or renewal the Dealership in 7/10 days will receive an email to the Dealership from Motability once the application has been processed
The Motabilty Specialist who is looking after your application can place an order for your new vehicle from the manufacture.
You may be lucky and the dealer may have your new car in the showroom or in stock.
In the 7 to 10 days the. Dealer is then given the first available date the customer can collect there new car .
If the customer collection day drops on Saturday/Sunday the Motabilty specialists that is looking after you should arrange with the customer to collect the vehicle another working day.
The Motability scheme for new application and customers re-newals has greatly improved over the last few years.
Don't forget you are go on Motability.co.uk and most of your questions will be answered online Ask Mo.
Hope this helps
