driving and WCA mental health was created by DRAGON2009
Would the ability to drive be of interest to Atos HCP's in regard to the mental descriptors I mean as a way of saying a person has no problem with 'personal actions' when at home they actually have many reasons with personal actions initiaing or completing , or perhaps they could say driving involves social contact eg. buying petrol, dealing with recovery vehicles or the MOT station etc ?

What of someone like me socially impaired and stricken with fear and panic and doesnt answer the door or the phone but does drive
A bit of a worry with the ESA50 on my desk !

They will make assumptions regarding your ability to drive, but there is nothing you can do to stop this, however, you can challenge those assumptions in how you respond in your ESA50, you have already thought abou this in your post, so just spend some time looking at each question and thinking how it relates to your driving. So as an example; maybe you only use a self-service pump where you can also pay, maybe you only drive to place that you know and always use the same route.

I hope this helps.

Gordon

In addition to what Gordon has advised, from my experience whether you drive a car with a manual or automatic gearbox would also be considered.

Thank you Gordan and Jim

As regards Jim's point re 'automatic ' gearbox
I guess that in a assessment of mental ability driving
an automatic car is regarded as less mentally testing, or less multi task intensive

However, my feeling is that if they want to be awkward they could argue ability and engagement in driving to
almost completely sabotage a mental health esa case
planning, execution of tasks, dealing with hazards, social contact (you would be hard pushed to always be able to avoid it )
Thankfully, I haven't read horror stories about atos using driving against people
