I Applied for DLA but I was turn down and my condition has got worse after I fill the form. My medication was increased from 40mg MST to 60mg and I have oromorph every 2hrs or else I am unable to even stand up can someone please tell me if:
If I ask for the decision to be look at again? Will they contact my GP?
If I do a change of circumstances will they contact my GP?
Thank you very much

If you ask for a Reconsideration or Appeal then the deterioration in your condition cannot be considered as they can only look at your condition(s) as it was at the time of the original Decision.Hi Everyone,

So the first question you have to ask yourself is, would you qualify for DLA without these changes? If the answer is yes then you should appeal.
However, if you are not sure, or feel that your case is stronger now, then you can make a new claim for DLA, however, this wil only be payable from the date of application, whereas an appeal if successful, would result in payment from the date of the original application.

From my experience a change or increase in medication is not a change of circumstances 'per se', but as Gordon has advised if your condition has worsened you should consider making a new claim.

The DWP might contact your GP, but they are under no obligation to do so.
