I am afraid that it is perfectly possible.hi i've been on long term incapacity benefit which includes graduated pension payment since approx. 1990 after being retired on health grounds from my job with my local authority and now i'm awaiting transfer to ESA. I've filled in the form and included copies of hospital letters from my medical file which i obtained before switching doctors my question is can they really judge me fit for work when i was retired and getting graduated pension included with IB?
It is important to understand that ESA is not a direct test of your ability to work, but rather tests your ability to meet a number of individual tests, the ESA descriptors.
In simplisitc terms, each descriptor has an associated score, if you do not score the required 15 points of more, then you will be found Fit for Work.
Have a look at our Understanding ESA guide for a more detailed explantion.

I'm so glad there is this site as i have agrophobia amongst other illnesses and the CAB are inundated and cant come out(government should give them more funding as they refer people to go to them) no friends too help either. So i'll just have too muddle through and hope for the best and keep fighting them all the way even if my new GP is hopeless and wont seem to help me as she hadsnt got my paper file from my old gp

there is no specific timescale associated with being transferred from IB to ESA, in some cases it has taken weeks most often it takes months and in extreme cases, claimants have waited six months for the transfer to be completed.the DWP person that phoned to say that i was being transferred said it would all be done by the 21st December so worried that they might suddenly stop my money.
The DWP person you spoke, would not have had the faintest idea how long your transfer would take, and it was unprofessional of them to have suggested that they did.
I would also add that you cannot be found Fit for Work wthout your attending a face to face assessment, which from your post has not happened yet.
