hi not sure if this is the correct place to put this ,but i have recieved a letter telling me that my income support is changing, the usual letter for this esa change over

but i do not recieve incapacity benifit, but my stamp is credited via incapacity.

i get income support as im a carer for my wife, and not for incapacity, but they say i have to transfere over to esa, as incapacity benifit is no longer about

what i need to know is

i thought that i would be excempt this as im not claiming incapacity benifit, i only get my stamp credited from them

and buy the fact that i get cares allowance it shows that im a carer ( i was on incapacity back in 93 when i was ill ,but then my wife became ill and had brain tumours removed and i started looking after her and was paid income support )

im getting income support for caring for my wife,

have tried to find answers but one call centre says one thing and another says another

anyone know the answer

thanks in advance

Even though you are only receiving NI Credits you still have an active claim for IB, which is why you have received the letter.

We are limited on the advice we can give you because we can't say whether your situation will remain the same or improve, e.g. get some level of payment, although I think it unlikely, if you are transferred from IB to ESA.

I would first contact the DWP to make sure they understand your situation, they may well not be aware that you are receiving CA and IS.

Secondly, I would see a trained advisor to discuss your situation and to see what route would be best for you.

The quickest way to find an advisor is to Google "welfare advice" with your town or county.
