Transfering from IB to ESA was created by Pat Nicholson
Hi Iam new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help with a question I have. I have been on incapacity benefit for many years and have just received notice that I am to be assessed for ESA and have received my ESA50 forms.
I am now 60 and at the beginning of May 2014 will be eligible for my State Pension.
My question is will I stay on the benefit I am now on or will I have to go through the whole ESA process just for 14 months
Regards Pat

I am afraid you are just outside the cut-off for avoiding the transfer to ESA. See
Who will be transferred?
As you have received the notice letter, this means that your transfer has started, so there is now no way to avoid it and stay on IB.
I would suggest you start to have a look at our ESA Claim guides
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa
You can also begin completing an ESA50
Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
An actual ESA50 should be sent to you in the next 2-3 weeks, although this may be delayed by the Christmas post and Bank Holidays.
You might also want to have a look at the following
IB/IS/SDA transfer FAQs
If you have more questions please reply to this post, however, we have just closed the forum to new posts and will now only be open on Monday afternoon, before closing until the begining of next year.
