Confused by moving around rules was created by worrywart
Hello - first post so please be gentle. I have been on DLA high mob for many years. I have chrons disease and have had over 30 operations which has left me with many internal problems. I also have a diseased rectal stump which is a constant problem and causes extreme pain when walking. I have however always worked albeit with difficulty. last year however I developed a arthritis linked to my chrons and I was medically retired, I am now claiming ESA and am in the process of completing the. ESA 50 which has to be in this week. I am confused by the question on moving around - are they saying that you have to use a walking aid to get any points in this section. so if you do not use a walking aid but have pain on walking requiring you to stop then you would not get any points? I am being dim I know but I am such a worrier I just want to be accurate here. My situation is I am in constant pain with my pelvis / rectum and so any walking causes severe discomfort but I do not use any aids so I am unsure what to put here?

No, it's not.
There are two aspects to this. First, it means if it is reasonable for you to use an aid and that aid would extend the distance you could walk, such as a stick or crutches, then you will be assessed as using that aid.
Secondly, the test is of your ability to mobilise. In addition to walking, mobilising considers your ability to propel a manual wheelchair over equivalent distances, the usage must be reasonable, but whether you own or have ever used a wheelchair, is irrelevant.
