Im in the support group of ESA and have been ill now for well over 15 years I rely on my wife day to day and during the night to help me with getting around the house sorting out meals and help with my toilet dressing and washing needs. She is not registered as my career as things have been like this from the beginning and she just does it, And with me being on DLA did not think about trying to make her my career. So would not know how to go about it.
Anyway the job centre rang this morning and asked her to go in for a interview. The lady on the phone said it was not to force her into work but to make her aware of her options? Its not till now how much I realized how much Id miss her and what she does around the house to help me and keep me safe and I dont think I will be able to cope with out her.
So even though im on ESA looks like they have found as way...
As anyone else been in this situation please .And if so can you offer any advice please..
regards Os
P.S. I hope this is the right section Im sorry if not.

Hi O5,
If you wish to consider making an application for Carers Allowance for your wife, you can find details here : www.gov.uk/carers-allowance
They can ask partners of IR ESA recipients to attend WFI's. Even if your wife did successfully qualify for Carers Allowance or The Carer Premium, she may still have to attend WFI's but cannot be sent forward to the Works Programme.
Have a read of these FAQ's :
Work Focussed Interviews
Work Programme
You could contact the JCP adviser, and make them aware of your severe limitations and bring them upto speed on your wife's caring resposiblities. The JCP adviser can defer the interview or carry it out in your home or over the phone, these options are at their discretion though.
Your wife cannot be forced to actively seek or take up employment.
My advice would be for her to not sign anything, until she has thouroughly read it.

Thank you for the reply. I will show her this. Unfortunatly she is not great at things like interviews and is easily railroaded. That might be to harsh a word but you get what I mean. Iv told her about things like this and she says you know how I get. So I might try and ring when her letter gets here. to ask if they can do it over the phone or come here to do it. Many thanks again
regards Os.
