ESA Severe Disability Premium

Am new to the site, and it is a very interesting site, that I will no doubt be using in the future.
I am in receipt of ESA (IR) & was awarded Lower Rate Care DLA. I appealed against the DLA award and was awarded the Higher Rate Care DLA. This therefore qualified me for the Enhanced disability Premium, which I now receive.
My question is regarding the severe Disability Premium. I believe I qualify (as I am a joint tenant, so classed as living alone for the benefit of the claim). I sent the IS10 back, as soon as I received it, then they asked for a copy of the tenancy agreement, which I sent over a week ago. I was wondering how far back will they pay arrears? my initial DLA award was October 2012, which i appealled, so in Dec 2012, I was awarded the High rate, back-dated to Oct 2012. As soon as I received the revised award, I have been chasing the Severe Disability Premium, but it seems the whole system is geared up to delay claims etc.
So will my claim, be back-dated? and will it be to October 2102, or is it a set time they back-date claims?
Many thanks

Welcome to B&W you might want to have a look at the following FAQ
Welcome to Benefits and Work
With regard your question, as Premiums are the result of you being eligible for another benefit, you are eligible for payment from the date you qualify for that benefit, so your payments should be backdated to Oct 2012.
Hopefully this can be done quite quickly once the issue of your joint tenancy has been resolved.
