ATOS contacting GP was created by MSCarer
I have recently returned my ESA50 and was wondering what the procedure is if ATOS decided to contact my GP? Would I be informed about this first?

Hi MSC,
DWP/ATOS "sometimes" send an : ESA 113 Questionnaire , to seek further evidence regarding a claimant's limitations.
You will not be informed regarding this, although some G.P. Practices do contact a patient when their G.P. has received an ESA113.
You may wish to ask your G.P./Practice to contact you and let you know if they do receive one.
It may be advantageous to discuss such a scenario with your G.P. ASAP.
As you will see at question 6 of the questionnaire, your G.P. is asked whether you could attend a face to face at an ATOS Centre using public transport.
If you cannot, or would need a "Home Assessment" (if it is deemed that you need one) it would be advisable to discuss how your G.P. is going to respond to this question.
I must say, that feedback from the majority of members suggests that their G.P.'s seldom receive ESA113's.
This does not mean that your's won't.

Hi MSCarer
I had an assessment in Oct 12. Atos sent an ESA113 to my GP. He called me to his sugery, he explained that these forms are usually sent if Atos think the claimant has a severe condition but need some further information that may not need the claimant attending a face toface assessment.
In my case I was placed in the Support Group for 12 months.
Best of luck CM
