PIP mobility question

Is one of the questions asked 'can you walk further than 20 metres'?
If the answer is no, which it should be, how can you attend for the assessment?
Just a thought which has me thinking!
I know most of the assessments are done F to F in an assessment centre so how can the answer be no?

In answer to your questions. In a round about way you will be asked a series of questions to determine how far you are comfortably able to walk.
With regard to the face to face assessment, it depends where you live because that determines whether Atos or Capita undertake the assessment as where Atos only use assessment centres, but at the moment with Capita, all assessments are 'home visits'.

I understand the question will be asked in such a way, but surely a claim for PIP could not go ahead if the claimant can answer yes to being able to walk more than 20 metres.
It was a hypothetical question but I have decided to make the claim myself anyway.
Face to face assessments are currently being carried out in assessment centres only by Capita, I know of someone who does these.
It must be Atos who do the home assessments, in the Midlands Capita don't.

I am afraid that there is a world of difference between a claimant saying they cannot walk more than 20m and their being assessed as being unable to walk 20m

ATOS are primarily assessing PIP claimants at their Assessment centres, it may be possible to arrange a home assessment, but at this time the procedure is far from clear, I would expect a GP letter would be required at the very least.

I had the pleasure of a DLA home medical assessment in 2012 and the entire report was totally fiction.
He saw me walk from the table, taking 7 steps to a chair and said I could walk between 50 and 200 metres.
I appealed and his report was upheld.
I cant breathe without pain!! so walking has to be done but its never easy.
Im going to claim PIP when I can find the energy, I need someone to help me complete the form in a better fashion than I managed with DLA!

I think you will find it difficult to get advise but try an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.
