ESA success, thanks and a question was created by canttrusthesystem
My transfer from Incapacity to ESA had been a success! I relied haevily on the guides from this website, both for mental and physical illnesses, as well as info from the forum, and the DWP have put me in the Support Group! I really couln't have done it without you. I found the guides and site very supportive, as well as knowledgeable and informative, and that 'added ingredient' was so important and much appreciated. So thank you all so very much.
The DWP telephoned me with the decision first (I now also have had a letter) which I thought was a bit odd - do they usually do that? Verbally they told me the 'award' is til December 2016, but obviously that is not in the letter.
I am now midway through composing a letter (based on the one on this site's page 12 in the ESA Appeals Guide) asking for copies of all the letters, reports etc. they used / collected in coming to their decision and wondering whether or not this is a good idea (I think it may be useful in exposing to me any weaknesses in my calim etc. and confiromuing my review date), but on the other hand, could it just 'get their backs up', type of thing? Should I perhaps leave well alone? What do you think?
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi ctts,
That is great news! Thanks for letting us know and for your kind words about the site There should not be any problem if you contact DWP for copies of the paperwork associated with your claim.

I didn't fully realize it until I was under the full stress of actually doing the claim, but the guides really are written in a very supportive and encouraging tone, and, for me, the value of that couldn't be underestimated. It was like having a friend, as well as an excellent adviser, alongside me. (Sorry if that sounds a bit sort of soppy, but it was really true.)

Hello,
I hope pulling this thread forward is the best way to continue.
I put in a SARS request (based on the text in this site's ESA Appeals guide, page 12) and all the DWP sent back was copies of my ESA50 and (most) of the 'continuation sheets' plus a copy of the ESA85A and LT54 - no score sheets or anything else at all.
The ESA85A contains a reference to a 'Med 3' - this appears to be outside evidence they have gained regarding my health condition - does anyone know what this is, please? I am wondering if it is instead of an ESA113, perhaps?
Thank you.
Kind regards
