PIP Timescales was created by Augustus
Good Afternoon
I am waiting for a response from ATOS having applied for PIP last January.
I would like to have a [very rough] idea of the timescales for PIP after a medical has been conducted by ATOS.
In other words [roughly] how long to wait for a DWP decision after medical; also, once an appeal has been lodged, how long to wait for an initial reconsideration decision from the DWP.
Appreciate there may be wide variations, but an idea would be great.
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks after the assessment has been done for a Decision on your PIP claim to be made, however, this assumes that there are no problems with the assessment report.
Many reports are still subject to audit by the Assessment Provider and we are aware of some reports being rejected by the DWP and being sent back for re-writing, all of this could add months to the process.
You cannot make an appeal until a Mandatory Reconsideration has completed, the target for these is two weeks but based on our experience from the forum, it is more like 6-8 weeks.
