New ESA Claim within 7 weeks of old one? was created by Rick2Wise
Firstly may I thank everyone at this site. The help from here has been immensely valuable to me particularly with regards the nightmare that is PIP.
Secondly I have tried to find the answer to this by searching the site and FAQ so I apologise if its staring me in the face.
I recently attempted to return work at a new job and ceased making my ESA claim on the 19th May 2014. Unfortunately I became very ill last week. I suffer from Bi-polar disorder and had a minor psychotic episode last week during which I became so overwhelmed and manic that I quit my job. I saw my GP who agreed to increase my medication and has "signed me off" for 4 weeks until I can at least see my psychiatrist. I did explain my situation to my employers and have pleaded with them to rescind my resignation but they will not. I therefore feel I need to make a new ESA claim. It is possible to claim again so soon? Are there any pitfalls to look out for? Will the fact that I "jumped" rather than was "pushed" make a difference?
Any advice gratefully received with thanks.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Providing it is less than 12 weeks since you closed your ESA claim then you should be able to make a rapid reclaim and be placed back into the group that you were previously although you will likely still have to go through a re-assessment of your claim with a new ESA50 and face to face assessment.
If you are now outside of the 12 weeks then it will be treated as a new claim. This has two implications, first if you were previously receiving ESA(CB) you may no longer be eligible, you will only qualify if you can now meet the required Contribution Conditions, secondly as a new claim you will only be entitled to the ESA Assessment rate until a Decision is made on your claim.
It is obviously too late now, but if you consider doing work again you might want to try Permitted Work first, this allows to work for limited hours or pay while continuing to receive your ESA.
If we can help further, please reply to this post.
