Supporting evidence - general was created by carruthers
When it comes to supporting medical evidence, do I include any stuff about "The effects of ME" etc? I know I used to do this for DLA claims, because most of the people looking at the claims knew little about ME and what they did "know" was often wrong.
If DMs are still being told to use Google to find information from charities etc, might it be sensible to include some of the stuff you would like to find anyway (with links for them to check)?
For example, I have a list of the side effects of several of the drugs I take, which are probably exacerbating my condition - If you have ME or MS then if you take drugs with "tiredness" and "muscle pain" as normal side effects, then you can't say for sure that the drugs are making you more tired, but you can show that it not unlikely.
On a larger scale, I have stuff from the ME Association which has, for example, lists of problems caused by ME. Will including this sort of stuff be of any help, or do they rely on their own documentation?
If they do rely on their own material, do I point out that, for example, some of my symptoms are as described on page x of their medical notes? Maybe I should simply describe my symptoms in such a way that it mirrors their information - or does that look to "fake" or calculaating

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There is good reason to include reference information about a condition especially for one such as ME where it is purely understood and where symptoms such as the 24-36 hours delay for fatigue can see counter-intuitive to a layman, but I would be cautious of including too much.
You might say for example, I have this problem which is consistent with the NICS guideline for ME/CFS and then include a web link to the NICE guidelines themselves as an appendix.
The fact that symptoms may be the result of the treatment you are receiving should not be an issue, the effects of most drugs (if not all) are documented on the internet so you should be able to include a link for these as well.
I doubt that the DM will be interested in the causes of ME so I would not include information such as this, you do not want to dilute the information you are providing them with.
