asked for phone number when calling ESA was created by pingusolid
Hello,
I just remembered that during a phonecall I made to ESA section in which I asked for the length of support group award, the operator asked me for a mobile number. Not thinking about it gave her my landline number. (should have given no number)

why do you think she was asking for my number ? They have my number on file from the last ESA50, or I assumed they did.

Will I start receiving calls inviting me to work interviews now or other such hassle ? Paranoia ?

Hi AW,

It is pretty standard for them to request your home phone number.

They sometimes ask you to confirm it even if they already have it, as part of the security questions.

You do not have to answer any phone calls from DWP, and if you do by mistake, you do not have to discuss anything on the phone if you don't want to.

You could simply ask them to put it is writing.

I rang DWP today to ask when I might be reassessed and I was also asked my home phone number. As Bro says, this is just one of the security questions, nothing to worry about.
