PIP CARE COMPONENT COUNTED AS INCOME WHEN APPLYING was created by Rosskernow
My partner has to have care and we have applied through Social Services for a personal budget. Such has been accepted and the Support plan is now being composed. Now we have just had the financial check and are told that he has to pay £53 per week towards his care as his income is too high. When looking at the tabulation about £55.00 of the PIP Higher Care component has been counted as income. Is this correct? I thought, like DLA, that PIP was not sued for any calculation, it stands alone. Perhaps I'm wrong, can anyone please clarify for me???

The rules for DLA and PIP are the same with regard to it being treated as income, as this is in regard to care payments I would expect any PIP Daily Living Award to be included in the calculation but would not expect anybody with no other income to be expected to make a contribution.
