Current ESA50: Non-expandable boxes

A couple of posts about claimants being sent another ESA50 only half-way through their prognostic period gave me quite a fright. My condition is progressive. This poses two problems: the need to keep things up to date and the increasing physical hardship in doing so. I’ve been focussing on my eventual loss of DLA and the need to apply for PIP and have therefore neglected my ESA data.

Anyway, I downloaded the current PDF from the gov.uk website. When I tried to copy/paste information from my 2014 form to the current form I found that the boxes do not expand as they did in 2014. The text does not get smaller.

I’ve used a Windows 8.1 PC for both forms. I used Adobe Acrobat Reader v. 11 in 2014 since when I have upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Reader DL. That is not the source of the problem, though. My PC is crammed with older versions of the ESA50 and the text boxes still expand with AAR DL.

Has anybody else noticed this issue? Is there a workaround?

I suppose it will mean rewriting even more and adding a greater number of additional sheets for each answer.

Thanks,

Mari W

Hi MW,

Yes, the issue of the text boxes being smaller and not expanding to allow more text in the most recent PDF ESA50's was brought up on the forum some time ago.

If you are going to copy and paste over from a previous version, as I recently have for a friend, you will find that more added A4 pages will be needed, etc, etc.

As all added pages were previously numbered and indexed. I also had to reformat as well !!

DWP do not like making it easy, do they !!!!

I'm sorry to have repeated a question, Bro58 :( I wondered whether it was "just me", since when I've downloaded an AA application for a contact and that's fine. Yet again, it is we "working age" claimants that are belted.

Thanks :)

Mari
