Hi j,
If you have proof of delivery of the form to DWP by their deadline return date, you can use that to argue your point with them.
You could also make an official complaint :
Complaining to The DWP
and complain to your M.P. :
Contacting your MP
If you are going to phone DWP PIP you need to request an escalation of your complaint to a Manager/Supervisor.
This will involve a call-back from them so the earlier in the day that you ring, the better.

Just to add to the advice already given, the claimant really needs to get a statement from the DWP as to why the claim has been ended, they can little to deal with the situation without knowing this.

I know that you have been told that the PIP2 was returned on time, but this is consistent with a late form.
However, I can only repeat, without knowledge of the Decision which stopped the original claim, we cannot help.

I have been told today by a benefit advisor working with Macmillan that she spoke to 3 people at PIP last week and they all said that if you are being reassessed for PIP and the claim end date arrives before a new decision has been made your PIP will stop

We're used to PIP re-assessments being done well in advance of the award ending (usually a year), so the though of it ending never crossed my mind, but yes, if the award has ended then payments would have stopped.
If a new award is made then it should be back dated.
