What happens next ? was created by psgaines
Hi, still waiting for my outcome to being moved to PIP, at present I have a mobility car and still have 17 months left on lease, Like most who are genuinely disabled I desperately need my car. If for some reason I get told I will not have a car what happens when I have 17mth left on my lease? I can not afford to loose a £1200 deposit, so what happens while an reconsideration and possible appeal is in progress ? sorry I'm not good on computers and find it difficult searching for what I'm looking for. Thanks

Hi sg,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

Yes, I am afraid many current DLA recipients have such concerns !!! :(

You do not have to instigate your transfer to PIP, when your time comes, you will receive an "Invite" through the post.

This could occur any time over the next 2-3 year period if you were under 65 years old on 08/04/13, irrespective of whether you have an Indefinite DLA Award.

If you fail to gain an Enhanced PIP Mobility Award on being transferred from DLA, you will have to return your Motability Vehicle even if you decide to request a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR)/Appeal of the adverse decision.

I believe that in this eventuality, they pay you part of your deposit back pro-rata.

My best advice would be to read through the information from the blue links below, then come back to us by replying to this topic if you have any further PIP related queries :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link down the page)

How The PIP Points Scoring System Works.

PIP Self Test

This Post in our Spotlight Area at the top of The forum.

You can also find information on Motability's PIP Transitional Support Package : Here !

Hopefully, the Motability information above will be superfluous ! :)

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now. That way you can return to this topic easily to pose any further queries that you may have by replying to the topic.

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)
