My condition is what used to be called Multiple Personality, and thus the question that automatically qualified me for the Support Group was the one asking if you have 'blank' moments. Since these happen on a daily basis, I was considered a substantial risk to the safety of others.
This could prove interesting at a face to face, since if one of the other personalities takes over whilst I am there, this could lead to any number of scenarios.
It sounds like you qualified under the Exceptional Circumstances Regulation 35.2(b). There is no automatic qualification through this route, in fact you must provide current evidence to support any claim under this Regulation, this may be why you have been called for a face to face.
If you have not provided up to date information and relied on previous evidence then I would speak to those supporting you and ask them to write to Maximus explain your issues in detail. They may be expecting Maximus to contact them, but if you have been given an appointment it is unlikely that they will now do so.

Hi Gary, just to say that my heart goes out to you living with that condition.
Also just a little tip if it's helpful..... - the assessors' training in mental health is usually pretty rudimentary, & in view of the lack of awareness of the issues facing people with MPD/DID amongst health professionals generally, I don't imagine a Maximus assessor will have much experience/awareness of it at all.
That's not necessarily a negative thing, as it could mean they simply wont have any preconceived ideas, but you might want to consider taking someone with you who knows your condition and how it affects you, especially if you have 'others' that will tell the assessor things that may hurt your claim.
(Someone I know with DID has an alternate personality who can only say things that agree with the 'authority figure', which is a nightmare in such situations, so she would definitely not be able to have an effective assessment alone!)
You could also/alternatively take some brief written information about the condition (if poss from an authoritative source), so you could at least give them that before you start, so that if one of your other personalities does show up, they will have some idea of what's happening.
It might also be worth checking out what the DWP/Maximus have written about your condition in their handbooks, so you could at least see what they're being told. They are online somewhere, perhaps someone here knows where they can be found?
Also recommend having a look at the ESA claims guide section on attending a f2f & then at least you'll have some idea of what will happen.
Wishing you the very best of luck with it all Gary, and please accept my apologies if any of my post seems too intrusive or is triggering, my intent was to be helpful.

Gary wrote: Appreciate all the info. Having spoken with my Doc, he is recommending I go to the face to face rather than a home visit, as the stress is likely to tip me over. My condition is such that I am the primary personality and the others will work in tandem as they are all aware of each other. They might get an almighty shock if the female personality is dominant on the day! I shall be taking my partner with me, as she is a qualified psychologist and can probably chew the assessor into little pieces with her knowledge of the condition.
Again, thanks for all the advice,
